We have mentioned those things in the below section clearly. Now we will go to the teams and their mix-up before the start of BBL T20 2021.
- Sydney Sixers
Sydney Sixers are the defending champions of the BBL 2019. The Sixers have won the championship till now 2 times once in the Inaugural competition in BBL1 under Brad Haddin Captaincy and again in BBL9. They are one of the exciting teams and also the strongest teams in the BBL. They have been the most consistent teams so far and among the best teams of all the 8 teams. Steve Smith, Moises Henriques, Brad Haddin, J Botha, etc are the legends who captained the side. Jordan Silk, Josh Philippe, Sean Abbott, and Nathan Lyon are the players to look out for in the Sydney Sixers.
- Melbourne Stars
Melbourne Stars had a dream run in the Big Bash League, Both their Men and Women teams have performed brilliantly. They have played 8 out of 9 semi-finals and ended up being 3-time runners up. They have never won a BBL championship, still, they have been one of the strongest teams in the BBL tournament. Shane Warne, David Hussey, Cameron White, Brad Hodge, Glenn Maxwell, etc lead the Melbourne team. Glenn Maxwell is the current Captain and David Hussey is the head coach. Many legends from the international arena have been members of the side Likes of Lasith Malinga, Dwayne Bravo, Kevin Pietersen, Dale Steyn, etc are some players.
- Adelaide Strikers
Adelaide Strikers are one team who has seen all the ups and downs. In these 9 seasons, they had a roller coaster ride from winning the championship to perform very poorly. The late Philip Hughes, J Botha, M Klinger, Brad Hodge are the former captains of the Adelaide Strikers. International players like Rashid Khan, Kieron Pollard, Saeed Ajmal, Shakib Al Hasan have been part of the Adelaide strikers team. Travis Head captains the current side and Rashid Khan, Peter Siddle, and Matt Renshaw are the players to watch out for.
- Brisbane Heat
Brisbane Heat had a good to bad phase so far in the Big Bash League. They have been the winners of the 2nd Season of the BBL tournament and after it’s a forgettable experience for them. They are hardly able to reach the semi-finals once or twice after season 2. The current skipper is Chris Lynn and Darren Lehman is the Head Coach. James Hopes, Brendon McCullum, Daniel Vettori, etc have to lead the side previously. Brisbane Heat doesn’t have many International players for now by their squad. The Star player has to be Chris Lynn for them who is also the Captain.
- Perth Scorchers
One of the best teams in the Big Bash League and also the team who has won most no. of Championships are Perth Scorchers. They have been 3-time Champions and 2-time runner-ups till 2017/18 but failed to qualify in the last 2 seasons. Simon Katich, Adam Voges, M Klinger, etc are the previous Captains of the Perth team. Paul Collingwood, H Gibbs, Ian Bell, Jason Roy, etc are the international players who had played under the Perth Scorchers team. The current skipper is Mitchell Marsh and J Richardson, Ashton Agar, and Colin Munro are the players to watch out for.
- Melbourne Renegades
MR team has won the BBL08 season, Aaron Finch is the Captain and Michael Klinger is the Head coach o the Melbourne Renegades team. Andrew McDonald, Dwayne Bravo, Cameron White, etc has been the former captains of the Melbourne Renegades. Shahid Afridi, Muttaiah Muralidharan, Faf Du Plessis, Chris Gayle, Ben Stokes, etc are the legends who played for the Melbourne Renegades team. 6 out of 9 times they failed to qualify but if they happen to qualify they played 2 semi-finals and won 1 time. So, they are the unpredictable team of the BBL2021.
- Hobart Hurricanes
Hobart Hurricanes have never won the BBL tournament but they have been 2-time runner-ups. George Bailey, Matthew Wade, Tim Paine, etc have led the Hobart Hurricanes side. Many greats of the game like Kumar Sangakkara, Darren Sammy, Stuart Board, Scott Styris, Jerome Taylor are some of the international stars who played for the HH team. Peter Handscomb is the acting skipper in place of Matthew Wade and D’Arcy Short, J Botha and J Faulkner are the players to watch out for in the BBL2021. Hope they win their first BBL title in the 10th season.
- Sydney Thunders
Sydney Thunders have won the BBL once, they won in the 2015/16 season and many greats of the games like David Warner, Michael Hussey, Shane Watson, etc are the former captains of the ST Team. They did not qualify for 7 times of 9 seasons. Till now they are the team with the worst performance, even having a very good squad they are not able to produce it on the field. The current skipper is Callum Ferguson and Sam Billings, Ben Cutting, and Alex Hales are the players to watch out for.
Three New Rules: BBL10
- The ‘Power Surge’ rule in BBL 2020-21 will consist of two overs during which the fielding side can have only two fielders stationed outside the inner ring. However, the ‘Power Surge’ option will be available for the batting team starting from the 11th over of the innings. To bring in the ‘Power Surge’, the Powerplay at the start of the innings has been reduced to four overs.
- The ‘X-factor Player’ in BBL 2020-21, is like a substitution option, but conditions apply. According to this rule, the 12th or 13th player in the side can enter the match at the 10th over of the first innings. The player being replaced though should not have batted or bowled more than once over.
- The Bast Boost is basically a bonus point that will be handed to either team at the midpoint of the second innings. The chasing side will win the bonus point if they are ‘above the equivalent 10-over score of their opposition’.
Our Word – BBL10 Winner odds
Big Bash League is the most prestigious tournament for the Australian Cricket Council, ACC. They have been trying their best to sort out the competition as swiftly as possible. The above-mentioned BBL10 Winner odds are from the bookie point of view and we don’t endorse those teams. Our expert review and our winner prediction will be revealed only after the second leg of the tournament.
There has been a lot of changes, many big players who had an impact in the last season that is BBL9 are not playing and some might be playing in the latter stages as they are playing for their national team. The odds from the bookie are also based on the head-to-head stats and their previous performances. Whatever said and done, we are waiting for the tournament to start and bring a lot of entertainment like its previous seasons.
we do hope that the brought in new rules could impact the game so much in a positive way. We hope the Big Bash League organizers should soon bring some international players especially from India, there are a lot of youngsters who would be having great exposure too. We want BCCI to grant permissions for the youngsters who are playing IPL and are not in a mix-up of the International squad to get exposure on the Australian and England pitches.
